The good side. Every woman and pretty man claims to have one. This is a theoretical angle at which they appear most attractive.
I think cars have good sides and bad sides. For example, many new Lexii look good in side profile, but horrible from the front.
My car's good side is the front quarter view. That's not to say it doesn't look good from other angles, but this is the best. It's honestly hard to capture in pictures because camera's never quite get the point of view correctly, but every now and then when I look back at my car from a quarter view I crack a smile because it looks so good. The way the hatch slopes down, how it accentuates the nose without making it appear too big, how small it looks when viewed in person next to the trucks I often end up near...
So, fellow oppo's: What's your car's good side?

Everything about this picture is fucking awesome. I love the blacked out emblem

I'd say it's about the same, though a little more head on.
I really like how it bulks up when seen from this angle. It also looks pretty good from a side view though, due to the low nose.

My car's good side is the right side. My car's bad side is the front and lefty side—it was hit there and they half-assed the repairs!

This side.

I've grown to love this smile. Straight-on is the best side.

All...but I like this view (front quarter)

I reckon my Camry looks best in a silohette-y side shot. the overall shape isnt too bad i think...

Since I have been working on the family custom so much lately I honestly can't give it a bad side the thing looks great at every angle I look at the car, but my favorite picture I have taken of that is a rear 3/4 shot that shows the stance and the wild tail lights.

The 90 looks better from the back I think. Stock spoiler was nice. Front looks a bit soft in the B3 iteration. Not mine but best I could GIS from my desk

All of them that don't make my cars ass look big. (not my actual car)
But secretly, the one's that make my car's ass look big.
But then i get mad/embarassed when people bring up the 4th gen eclipse "My car's ass isn't that fat. That looks terrible. Way worse than my car. My car looks nothing like that" *nervous laugh*
This is usually where i follow up with some overdrawn discussion of the merits of RWD, which eventually ends halfway through with the person i'm talking to walking away.

Still looks good from the front.

People actually try to compare your car to an Eclipse on looks?!
That's like comparing Jennifer Anniston to Sarah Jessica Parker

It was front passenger side, like this, but then the mirror fell off in my hands recently. So probably front driver's side.

I think straight on the back might not be great. Otherwise yes, it looks good from all angles

I love NAs. I'm hoping to get one at some point relatively soon. Preferably in white.

2001. Not dramatic, but I think still quite nice.

I prefer to let most folk see it from the taillights as I roar past, but if it has to be sitting still the top of the podium is fitting...

hehe Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. By that I'm basically saying be very patient when you start looking. I got this one a year ago and it was an expensive first year. Was really wanting a 1.8 NA and they seem to be kind of rare in my area of Florida, at least ones for sale. This was the first 1.8 I found and I bought it. I didn't pay enough attention to the condition of the cooling system when I was checking it over and it overheated on the way home, causing the head gasket to rupture. But it's a new year, the top end has been rebuilt, and a I'm optimistic that the worst is behind me. They really are a blast, even with worn suspension bits. It will only improve along the way as I repair things.

rear quarter is the best look for mine imo

The Z's (I own one too) ass looks terrible without a spoiler/wing, the hatch curve just abruptly stopping is like..wtf did they do there? but a wing/spoiler draws the eye away from that

Thanks, I'm quite fond of it.

cool! an XLR. How do you like it? I check for those on craigslist a few times a year to get a feel for where prices are at, at any given time.

WHAAAA?!
Dude, you should do an Opporeview. No, you need to do an oppo review. This is your mission now.

I like mine from this angle, it doesn't accentuate the high beltline very much this way. But I stare at my car lovingly, no matter what angle I view it from :P
#SO MUCH COCAINE!

Can't really choose just one, but 3/4 front and rear both look great to me . As does pretty much head on from a distance.

The beige side, obv.

And the rear 3/4 view

Hmm, I dunno, i can't stand the Nismo V1 spoiler, it looks like it's backwards. I actually genuinely like the car without any spoiler. I have the tiny lip on mine, which is maybe the worst of all worlds. I should really get around to getting it removed.
Hate this:
This is ok though (V2)

My car's ass (which isn't very attractive either, but better than its tits).

Limiting myself to pictures I've taken myself, either front-on:
Or the front quarter view:
If I'm allowed to use other people's pictures...
(Okay, the Rallye livery and wheels do help.)
(Top down on the rear quarter's quite nice too.)

That's an attractive hatch.

I have a couple of friends who'd like nothing more than a classic Mustang, or old 50s Cadillac. It's an injust world.

it looked good this way.

The lower the angle the better, although any angle that shows off the chunky fender flares is good.

unfortunately none right now, the previous owner was a bit of a bad driver. But no fear the Miata is getting new driver and passenger side front quarter panels as well as new front bumper and rear bumper, then all side will be the good side.

man that is a rough first year. I just bought a NA a month ago and just put in a new radiator, thermostat, radiator hose and did a check over. Hopefully I am in the clear cooling wise. now on to some body work and other bits.
![]() 01/30/2014 at 11:38 |
|
Yeah, I'm hoping that I'm past the worst of it. But even still, there's still a dozen things that aren't catastrophically bad that need changing. It's a project though, that's part of why I bought it. You should be pretty okay with what you've changed. If you have one of the earlier NA's you may want to check into whether it has the so called "cursed water plug" and if it does, change that. There's a lot of info on miata.net about it.
![]() 01/30/2014 at 13:30 |

Exactly why I bought this car, it needs work, but I know it. I have done a bunch of other stuff maintenance wise. Next up is possibly vavle cover gasket, CAS seal and looking into the water plug issue. I have a '92 so I am lucky to not have the Short Nose Cam issue. I like it because it is too much fun to drive and thus far been easy and fun to work on with my dad. Neither of us were or are big mechanic types, but between his skill set (plumber/pipefitter) and mine (general love of cars and learning) we have done pretty well thus far.

It sounds like a fun project. It's good that you know the car well. I'm tracing a fuel smell in mine now. It only seems to happen when the tank is full. I'm hoping this rain will quit soon so I can check it out.

i saw that you mentioned miata.net, did you post on there a few days ago? thought I read a similar thread title on the NA section. They have helped me a lot in the first couple months of ownership. With info and and some maintenance guidance as well as a few how-to's. My name is "Miata Me Crazy" so maybe ill see you around.

I did post it there. I'm trampaonline on there. Used to be my name on here as well.
